EigenLayer, constructed on the Ethereum protocol, introduces restaking as a novel concept in cryptoeconomic security. This feature allows for the recycling of ETH within the consensus layer. Participants who stake ETH directly or through a liquid staking token (LST) have the option to engage with EigenLayer smart contracts to restake their ETH or LST. This action extends cryptoeconomic security to further applications on the network, offering participants additional rewards.
